Abstract
The Young Probabilists and Statisticians Conference has been held every two years since 1994 under the auspices of the Random Modelling and Statistics (MAS) group of the Society for Applied and Industrial Mathematics (SMAI). Participants are advanced PhD students (in their second or third year) or those who may have defended their thesis within the past year. The aim is to provide them with a pleasant and informal setting in which to meet, present their work and broaden their range of interests.

PhD in applied mathematics
I am an applied mathematician who is passionate about modelling complex systems using probabilistic and statistical tools.
During my PhD at MaIAGE, INRAE under the supervision of Patrick Hoshceit, Elisabeta Vergu and Estelle Khun, I focused on developing spatialy embedded probabilistic models to help understand the commercial cattle network in France using random graph models. I was particularly interested in the spread of epidemics on random graphs, as well as parameter inference using approximate statistical methods based on simulations.
